Below is a list of tax-acquired property by the Town of Portage Lake, the time of redemption for the previous owner having expired.
Each bid mus be in writing in a sealed envelope clearly marked "Tax Sale Bid" and the number associated with the desired property on the outside. Each bid must also include the bidder's name, mailing address, and phone humber, and must be accompanied by a deposit equal to 10% of the bid amount in the form of a certified check or money order (no personal checks, please). A minimum bid price of $10,000 has been set for each property. The successful bidder's deposit will be credited to the total purchase price for that parcel; deposits of unsuccessful bids will be returned. Any bid which does not contain the proper deposit will be rejected. All bids must be received on or before 2 p.m. on Friday February 14, 2020. Late bids will not be opened or considered.

Bids will be opened, reviewed and may be awarded at the regular Selectboard meeting on Wednesday February 19 at 6 p.m.  The Board of Selectpersons reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The successful bidder shall have 30 days from the date of the bid acceptance in which to complete the purchase. The property will be conveyed by a quitclaim deed without covenants. In the event that a successful bidder fails, for any reason, to complete the purchase in the time stated, the bid acceptance is void and the bidder's deposit shall be forfeited to the Town. The Board of Selectpersons may thereafter negotiate a sale of the property with any or all unsuccessful bidders.
