In the mid-1990's, the Portage Lake Housing Corporation (PLHC) was formed by a group of caring and concerned citizens who wished to build a Senior Housing Complex for retirees who can no longer financially manage to stay in their homes but want to continue to live in this community. The PLHC has worked tirelessly over the past few decades to find a solution that will provide safe and efficient housing for our low income seniors, which will be called Mountain Valley Manor. This 6-12 unit housing complex will charge rent based upon the tenant’s income, provide all necessary utilities and services, and allow our elderly residents to spend their Golden Years in their community. Much work has been done to date, including purchasing land for the facility adjacent to the Town Hall property, a preliminary faciility design & cost estimates, hiring a grant writer, and identification of potential funding sources for construction. The PLHC has spent hundreds of volunteer hours planning and working towards making the housing project a reality. We are still fundraising and searching for grant opportunities to cover the approximately $1 million project! Our next phase of the project is to apply for construction funding.
Your donation will make a difference in the lives of many of our community members, will further strengthen our strong sense of community and is greatly appreciated! A tax-deductible donation (ID# 30-0420720) can be mailed in the enclosed postage paid envelope. All donors will be recognized on a name bearing plaque which will be unveiled at the grand opening of Mountain Valley Manor.
If you would like to make a donation, please fill out the Donation Request form and mail it to the address listed on it. Contributions are tax deductible.
