The Portage Lake municipal campground is located at the end of West Road, right next to the Portage Lake Boat Landing.

Camping Information

  • Number of Sites: Seven sites with electrical hookups (20 AMP and 30 AMP options)
  • Tenting Policy: Tenting is prohibited due to State regulations
  • Facilities:
    • Outhouse available
    • No water hookups or dumping stations for motorhomes


Camping Permit

To obtain your camping permit, you have a couple of options:

In-Person

Visit the Town Office during opening hours:

  • Tuesday to Thursday: 8 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Friday: 8 AM – 2 PM


Online

Download our permit application form and submit it along with your payment to the Town (detailed instructions are included in the application).



Phone Purchase

Call the Town Office at 207-435-4361 to buy your permit using a credit card.


Safety Guidelines

Important Safety Note:
Please be mindful that weekends can get quite busy. We kindly ask you to keep a close eye on your pets and children at all times.

Swimming Policy: For safety reasons, swimming is not permitted near the boat launch. If you’re looking to enjoy a swim, we invite you to visit the Portage Lake Public Beach on West Road.
