The Portage Lake municipal campground is located at the end of West Road, right next to the Portage Lake Boat Landing.

Camping Information
- Number of Sites: Seven sites with electrical hookups (20 AMP and 30 AMP options)
- Tenting Policy: Tenting is prohibited due to State regulations
- Facilities:
- Outhouse available
- No water hookups or dumping stations for motorhomes
Camping Permit
To obtain your camping permit, you have a couple of options:
In-Person
Visit the Town Office during opening hours:
- Tuesday to Thursday: 8 AM – 4:30 PM
- Friday: 8 AM – 2 PM

Download our permit application form and submit it along with your payment to the Town (detailed instructions are included in the application).
Phone Purchase
Call the Town Office at 207-435-4361 to buy your permit using a credit card.

Important Safety Note:
Please be mindful that weekends can get quite busy. We kindly ask you to keep a close eye on your pets and children at all times.
Swimming Policy: For safety reasons, swimming is not permitted near the boat launch. If you’re looking to enjoy a swim, we invite you to visit the Portage Lake Public Beach on West Road.
